The Somali Immigrant Service Society of Alberta (SISSA) is proud to share the successful completion of a series of Anti-Racism Community Sessions held between February and April 2026 in Edmonton.

These sessions brought together community members, youth, and leaders to engage in meaningful dialogue, promote inclusion, and address racism within our communities.

Session Dates

We successfully delivered seven sessions on the following dates:
• February 4, 2026 – April 12, 2026

What We Achieved
Throughout these sessions, participants:
•Engaged in open and respectful discussions on racism
•Shared personal experiences and community perspectives
•Learned practical tools to respond to discrimination
•Built stronger connections across diverse groups

Community & Youth Impact
A strong level of participation from both youth and adults made these sessions especially impactful. Youth participants showed leadership, engagement, and a commitment to creating positive change in their communities.

Key Outcomes
•Increased awareness of racism and its effects in Canada
•Strengthened community relationships
•Improved understanding of diversity and inclusion
•Empowered participants to take action against discrimination
